AE-16 Aethalometer data from Denver, Colorado: Diurnal Patterns

This chart shows 24-hour overlays of data taken with an Aethalometer during a winter month in Denver, Colorado. The repeating pattern pattern is very obvious, reflecting the diurnal variability of source strengths (traffic during the daytime, fireplace emissions in the evening) and the afternoon effect of regular downslope winds, sweeping out the metro air basin. The conclusions available from an overlay set such as this chart are immediately obvious. This illustrates the power and usefulness of real-time data
